Thanks to RIAS technology (Remote Infrared Audible Signage), it is possible to face any kind of indoor or outdoor environment:
by transferring information by infrared signals, which are transformed to voice signals, the limitations to daily life are eliminated, allowing people to move freely in public places. With a simple remote control (a receiver which reproduces the infrared messages transmitted by the transmitter), people can take the bus, cross a busy street, find their hotel room or a counter in a public office, with no trouble at all. RIAS technology is based on the transmission of information by infrared rays and the subsequent transformation of the signals to voice signals.
This technology uses a certain number of small  transmitters installed in fixed locations (means of public transportation or bus stops) and on receivers. The transmitters are the sources of information which is transmitted freely through the air by infrared waves. The receivers are portable units, very similar to a remote control, equipped with a speaker and a socket to connect an earphone. The receiver picks up the infrared signal generated by the transmitter, decodes it, and transforms is into an audible voice message using a speaker or earphone. There is a mute button which can be used to silence the voice at any time.
